Here's how to choose the right LiPo for your Freewing Avanti 90mm. The most important first step is confirming which version you have, because the battery spec is completely different between the two.
1. First: which Avanti 90mm do you have?

If your motor is a 3668‑1900KV (6S) it's the 6S version; if it's a 4075‑1350KV inrunner (the new "Ultra Performance" with thrust reverse and gyro), it needs 8S. Do not put a 6S pack on the 8S version or vice versa — you'll either get no thrust or fry the ESC.
2. For the common 6S version — the key numbers
- Voltage: 6S 22.2V (must match the ESC's rated input — 6S version is 6S only)
- Capacity: 5000–6000mAh — 5000 is the sweet spot for weight vs. flight time (~3.5–5 min); 6000 gives a bit more time but adds ~100g
- Discharge (C‑rating): minimum 45C, ideally higher. A 5000mAh 45C pack delivers 225A continuous, well above the ~70–90A the 90mm EDF draws at full throttle, so it stays cool and sag-free. Don't buy a cheap 30C pack for this jet.
- Connector: EC5 (mandatory — matches the ESC lead)
- Physical fit: battery bay is 280 × 83 × 70mm (11.0 × 3.3 × 2.8 in) — almost any 6S 5000 fits, but check the pack dimensions before buying, especially long thin packs.
3. Practical buying advice
- Stick with reputable brands (Admiral, Spektrum Smart, Roaring Top, Gens Ace, HRB, etc.) and buy a 60C+ 6S 5000 for margin if budget allows — cooler packs last more cycles.
- Use two 4S 5000 packs in series only if you have the 8S version (Freewing's recommended 8S method).
- Balance the pack weight: the manual recommends the stock pack for correct CG; a much heavier 6000 pack may need slight CG trim.
- Always use a 6S‑capable charger and balance-charge.
The single most common mistake is pairing the wrong cell count to the ESC — confirm your version first, then match voltage, then C-rating. If you tell me your model code (starts with FJ21xxx = 6S, FJ32xxx = 8S) I can confirm exactly which pack fits your airframe.
